  <title>the 2010 skiing and boarding trip</title>
  <link>http://www.veggiesnow.org/events/1061.html</link>
<description>Do get in touch if you would like to be on our emailing list about the 2010 trip, as it is never too early to get your name down for info. It also gives you a chance to influence the decision. Currently we're thinking Tignes in late March as it is a very high resort so long sunny days with lots of snow will be lovely. Do ask to be on our emailing list - places go fast so the first to hear get to book! Our trips are open to people wanting great veggie food in a fantastic location. Beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders are all welcome - there is bound to be another person of similar ability to go to lessons or hit the slopes with. If you are on your own we can put you in a room with someone of the same sex. Every trip manages to be even better than the last - we all have a fantastic time! Booking before the end of June usually gets you a cheaper rate, as often this year's rates apply. The more people we have the more funds we raise for animals and the environment without costing you a penny extra, so this is great news. Once you have done that, take a look at our essential pre-hol check list. It'll be another fantastic location with great skiing/boarding and fabulous food and excellent people to share your holiday with. The high altitude and low season ensure a great chance of good snow and uncrowded pistes. We'll have exclusive use of the chalets, as always, so all the food will be vegan and suitable for everyone! the details One week probably in early March. Extras may include equipment hire, lift pass, the odd drink and lunch time snack (it's nice to make your own sarnies and eat them on the mountain with a great view). environmental travel Like most veggies, we care about the environment. It's particularly key for keen skiers to stop climate change, as otherwise we'll end up with nowhere to ski in Europe. So we book locations with excellent train travel options, which are far better for the planet and your own stress levels than flying. Note that if you go there by car sharing with others this is the cheapest option and just as eco-friendly as the train if there are 4 in the car. If you do have to fly, please offset this a little by purchasing carbon off-setting (see Links). However we travel, we can all do this in fact! show your interest Get in touch right away to show your interest. We get the best chalets by booking well in advance. The 2010 trip will be mostly filled by June 2009. Why do we run these trips? Where: To Be Decided a snowy place with skiing and boarding, Somewhere, on Sat 6th Mar 2010 @ 09:00 until Sat 13th Mar 2010 @ 18:00. Contact: Sophie Fenwick-Paul via website.</description>

  <title>the 2009 skiing and boarding trip</title>
  <link>http://www.veggiesnow.org/events/858.html</link>
<description>We're taking a different tack from usual for our 2009 trip. We're booking small self-catering apartments to make it much cheaper and cosier, and to be able to book closer to the date of travel. [We plan to go back to catered chalets for the 2010 skiing and boarding trip, for those who like to pay for everything to be included.] The total cost of accommodation and train travel may only be around &#163;500, with the added luxury of 2 days' extra skiing if you take the overnight Snow Train. To make it even cheaper you could get their by coach, booking your transport yourself - see our eco friendly travel links for ideas. Our trips are open to people wanting great vegan food (this time prepared by each other) in a fantastic location. Beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders are all welcome. Contact Sophie right away if you are interested in joining the emailing list about this. Take a look at our essential pre-hol check list. It'll be another fantastic location with great skiing/boarding and fabulous food and excellent people to share your holiday with. Mid March ensures a great chance of good snow and uncrowded pistes, even in lower resorts, though I like to book high to make sure. It'll most likely be Tignes. We'll have exclusive use of the apartments, so all the food will be vegan even if you are not, and suitable for everyone! You tell me you are interested, I link you up with others and give you links to transport and accommodation, and we all meet on the snow or in each others apartments. Seven of us are booked already. Or just book to be in the same resort the same week and swap mobile numbers. the details One week in mid-March. Train would be something over &#163;250, giving you 8 days skiing for the overnight (couchette) Snow Train, 6 days on the snow for daytime train travel. Alternatively you could car share or take a coach. Apartments are best booked with a few more beds than people, as the French do like to cram you in. It'll probably work out at between &#163;150 and &#163;250 per person depending on space and location. Efficient local buses meet the trains to take you to resorts, which is easy and you buy your ticket at the train station (about &#163;20 return). There are group discounts (about &#163;10pp return). Alternatively we can pre-book shared taxis (about &#163;25pp return). Extras may include equipment hire, lift pass, the odd drink and food costs. environmental travel Like most veggies, we care about the environment. It's particularly key for keen skiers to stop climate change, as otherwise we'll end up with nowhere to ski in Europe. So we book locations with excellent train travel options, which are far better for the planet and your own stress levels than flying. Note that if you go there by car sharing with others this is the cheapest option and just as eco-friendly as the train if there are 4 in the car. show your interest Get in touch right away to show your interest. Why do we run these trips? Where: To Be Decided a snowy place with skiing and boarding, Somewhere, on Fri 13th Mar 2009 @ 16:30 until Sun 22nd Mar 2009 @ 10:00.
