Kick Ski - Vaujany
catered chalet apartments in the French Alps
Darren, one of the directors of Kick Ski, was the SkiBeat resort manager for our second VeggieSnow trip back in 2005. He really helped ensure we had a great time and that our hosts had an excellent supply of vegan ingredients. Now he's part of a new company he has contacted us to show how happy he is to cater for veggies and vegans through Kick Ski.
Kick Ski have a chef who was specially selected for versatility in catering for different requirements. You can choose to eat in your appartment or in a communal dining room.
Currently they have little on their website to highlight their veggie credentials, but we will notify you here when this changes. In the meantime, it is reassuring to know that Darren himself is veggie, and they have another vegetarian and a vegan on their current staff.
They are 100m from the cable car and you don't even have to walk there - you take an escalator. All you need to do is walk across a courtyard, take the escalator down, walk across a short section of metal flooring and you're on the cable car.
Environmental considerations
They are located 1.5 hours from Grenoble, and it is a only short transfer from their local train & coach station at Bourg d'Oisans to Vaujany. The TGV train from Paris goes to Grenoble, from where you can catch a coach or train to Bourg d'Oisans, 1.5 hours away. In French school holidays the coach goes directly to the resort.
The lodge uses low wattage lighting throughout.
Vaujany is not yet listed in the Green Resort Guide, as currently mainly large resorts are featured. However, its partner resort of Alp D'Huez scores quite well, having solar power on many of its new lifts, traffic reduction schemes and good recycling facilities.
